We use an industry-standard average reading speed of 238 words per minute (WPM). This provides a realistic estimate for the time it takes an average adult to consume your content silently. Speaking time is calculated at a slower pace of 130 WPM, which is the typical speed for conversational speech.
Are spaces included in the character count?
Yes. By default, the "Characters" stat includes every byte in the text, including spaces, tabs, and newlines. However, we also provide a "No Spaces" metric for specific use cases where you only need the count of the actual letters and punctuation marks.
Does this tool save my text?
